Chanodom
I spent my first year on Teachers Pay Teachers building products I assumed would sell — solid worksheets, themed bundles, the usual. Most of them didn't. After three months of zero-sale resources, I stopped guessing and started measuring. The internal scoring tool I built to surface low-competition niches became JustNiches.
Today I'm still a working TPT seller. Every change to the Opportunity Score is tested against real listings I'm planning to create — if the score doesn't predict outcomes, the score is wrong, not the seller. That feedback loop is what keeps the product honest.
Why I built JustNiches
Most TPT sellers are running blind. The marketplace doesn't show search volume. There's no equivalent of Google Search Console for TPT. Existing tools either show raw data without scoring it, are priced for agencies (not solo sellers), or focus on tracking sales of products you've already published — not deciding what to create next.
That's the gap JustNiches fills. Decide what to create before you create it. Run a keyword you're considering through the tool, see the Opportunity Score, look at the actual SERP, and either commit or move on. Cuts research time from a couple of hours per niche to under five minutes.
What's in our database
Every keyword search you run on JustNiches contributes to a growing dataset of TPT marketplace signals. As of April 2026:
Live data, 24-hour cache freshness, no stale results. Every Pro search analyzes up to 5 pages of TPT search results — about 120 products — so the Opportunity Score reflects the actual long-tail competition, not just the page-1 winners.
How the Opportunity Score works
The Opportunity Score is a 0–100 number combining five factors. Each factor contributes a weighted slice; together they answer the question "is this niche worth creating for?":
The five factors
- Total products (max 20 pts): fewer products = higher score. Under 50 products = max points.
- Low-review ratio (max 20 pts): percentage of products with under 5 reviews. High ratio = more under-established competitors you can outrank.
- Median reviews (max 10 pts): low median = market is still settling, easier to displace top sellers.
- Popularity (max 30 pts): from TPT's internal popularity signal. Higher = more demand. Low popularity caps the score even if competition is weak.
- Average rating (max 20 pts): low ratings = quality gap you can fill. A SERP averaging 4.2 stars is more vulnerable than one averaging 4.9.
A keyword scoring 75+ usually means: real demand exists, the page-1 incumbents are not all five-star giants, and the long tail has under-optimized titles you can outrank with proper SEO. Below 40 usually means: oversaturated, low demand, or both — skip it.
Editorial standards
Most tool blogs lean on AI-generated content and affiliate-driven listicles. We don't. Here's what we publish and what we won't:
What we will do
- Publish first-person posts written by working sellers, not contractors.
- Cite real numbers from our database, dated and reproducible.
- Be honest in comparison posts — including when a competitor is better for a specific use case.
- Update posts with a visible "Last updated" date when stats change.
What we won't do
- Publish AI-generated articles dressed up as human writing.
- Buy backlinks or run PBN-style link campaigns. (We've already had spam links pointed at us — disavowed and tracked.)
- Show fake testimonials or invent star ratings.
- Hide a paywall behind a "free trial" that requires a card to activate.
How we make money (so you trust us)
JustNiches is a paid SaaS. Pro is $9/month or $70/year for Early Adopters (locked in forever). Unlimited is $39/month. The Free plan is genuinely free — 10 searches/day, no card, forever — and is the largest cohort of users.
We don't run ads on the site, we don't sell user data, and we don't have an affiliate program (yet — when we add one it'll be transparent). The business is straightforward: build a tool good enough that 1–2% of the free users upgrade. That's the whole model.
