How this report is built: This is my quarterly trending TPT keywords report, generated from a live query against my JustNiches database (5,949 unique keywords analyzed across the platform as of April 2026). The 10 niches below come from a single filter pass: Opportunity Score above 75, TPT marketplace popularity 200–3,000 (real demand without extreme outliers), under 200 products competing on page 1, and an existing average rating signal (which excludes empty SERPs that aren't yet verifiable). Sorted by Opportunity Score descending. Every row below is real data. No manual curation, no editorial smoothing.

The TPT marketplace shifts seasonally. Q2 (April-June) consistently surfaces a mix of end-of-year, summer-prep, and fall-launch niches that get strong demand but lag on seller supply. This is the quarterly opportunity report I'd want if I were planning my next product. What's heating up, what's quietly under-supplied, what should be on your "next product to ship" list before competitors notice.

If you're considering creating any of the resources below, the data here is your green light. Validate against your own niche knowledge before building, but the numbers say these are real openings.

How to read each entry

For each niche, you'll see:

The 10 niches (in order of opportunity)

1. 2-Digit Addition with No Regrouping (Hidden Message)

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 86
Popularity 479
Competition (page 1) 14
Median reviews 0
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 86%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.10

Only 14 products on page 1, median 0 reviews, and 86% of those products have under 5 reviews. The niche is essentially un-claimed. The "hidden message" angle (students color answers to reveal a phrase) drives high engagement and word-of-mouth in the K-2 math centers community. Average rating 4.1 means existing options have quality issues a polished entry could displace.

Suggested product: "2-Digit Addition No Regrouping Hidden Message | Grade 1-2 | Print & Digital" — 8-10 pages, each revealing a different motivational or seasonal phrase when colored.

2. The Things They Carried — Imagery Analysis

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 86
Popularity 379
Competition (page 1) 10
Median reviews 0
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 90%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.63

Tim O'Brien's Vietnam War novel is taught in 11th-grade ELA standards across most US states. Imagery analysis specifically (vs. general comprehension) has only 10 products, 90% under 5 reviews. Page-1 incumbents are hobbyist-level. There's room for a polished close-reading packet.

Suggested product: "The Things They Carried Imagery Analysis | High School ELA | Annotation Guide + Worksheets" — chapter-by-chapter imagery tracker with sample annotations and discussion prompts.

3. Oedipus the King Quiz

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 85
Popularity 209
Competition (page 1) 33
Median reviews 1
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 83%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.58

Sophocles' Oedipus is taught in 9-12 ELA + AP Literature. Quiz-format products specifically (vs. full unit plans) are sparse. Only 33 products. Median 1 review = sellers haven't established dominance.

Suggested product: "Oedipus the King Quiz Bundle | High School / AP Lit | Multiple Choice + Short Answer + Answer Key" — 3-4 quiz versions covering full play, major themes, key passages.

4. 2's Day in Music (2/22 Math + Music Crossover)

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 84
Popularity 1,137
Competition (page 1) 6
Median reviews 1.5
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 67%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.78

Only 6 products competing for popularity 1,137. That's an exceptional ratio. "2's Day" (February 22nd) themed music + math activities is a calendar-driven niche that elementary music teachers actively search for. The cross-curricular angle (music + math) is rare.

Suggested product: "2's Day Music + Math Activities | February 22 | Grade K-3 | Rhythm & Pattern Worksheets" — printable activity pack tied to 2/22 with rhythm patterns and number-2 themed challenges.

5. April Fools Marshmallow Farm Activity

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 84
Popularity 323
Competition (page 1) 35
Median reviews 0
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 71%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.40

April 1st prank-themed activity that went mildly viral on teacher-Pinterest. 35 products on page 1 but median 0 reviews and avg rating only 4.4. The niche is settling, no dominant seller. Highly seasonal demand spike late March / early April.

Suggested product: "April Fools Marshmallow Farm | Elementary Reading & Writing Activity | Print & Digital" — story prompt + worksheets + craft template tied to the marshmallow-as-livestock prank narrative.

6. Writing Strips — IR Words Phonics

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 83
Popularity 2,765
Competition (page 1) 36
Median reviews 2
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 75%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.89

Very high popularity (2,765) for the structured-literacy phonics community. R-controlled vowels (especially "ir" pattern) are a critical phonics step that decodable-book teachers actively search for. Only 36 page-1 products, 75% with under 5 reviews. The niche is open despite strong demand.

Suggested product: "IR Words Writing Strips | Phonics Centers Grade 1 | R-Controlled Vowels | Print & Digital" — 20+ strips with words like "bird, girl, shirt, third" for tracing/copying practice.

7. Life Cycle of a Star Flow Chart

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 83
Popularity 2,596
Competition (page 1) 19
Median reviews 0
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 79%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.94

Astronomy in elementary/middle science (NGSS-aligned). Massive popularity (2,596) with only 19 competing products is one of the most lopsided demand-vs-supply ratios in my entire database. Median 0 reviews + 79% under-5-review products means newly-published niche, no established seller.

Suggested product: "Life Cycle of a Star Flow Chart Activity | Grade 4-6 Astronomy | Color + Label + Quiz" — printable flow-chart template, vocabulary cards, follow-up quiz.

8. Thanksgiving Feast Sign-Up Sheet

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 83
Popularity 480
Competition (page 1) 27
Median reviews 0
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 71%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.69

Classroom-organization niche. Teachers planning Thanksgiving potluck-style classroom feasts want a polished sign-up sheet. Only 27 page-1 products, median 0 reviews. Editable formats (Google Sheets, Canva) are underrepresented.

Suggested product: "Thanksgiving Class Feast Sign-Up Sheet | Editable Google Sheets + Print | Grade K-5" — 3-5 design variations, dietary-restriction columns, parent volunteer slots.

9. End Behavior of Polynomials Quiz

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 82
Popularity 1,599
Competition (page 1) 74
Median reviews 0.5
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 92%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.96

Algebra 2 / Pre-Calc topic. High popularity (1,599) but 92% of page-1 products have under 5 reviews. The niche is wide open despite many products listed. Median rating 4.96 means existing options are HIGH quality — you'd need to ship something polished to compete.

Suggested product: "End Behavior of Polynomials Quiz Bundle | Algebra 2 / Pre-Calculus | Multiple Versions + Detailed Answer Key" — 3-4 quiz versions covering polynomial degree, leading coefficient, end behavior matching.

10. One Is a Snail, Ten Is a Crab (Math Literature)

Metric Value
Opportunity Score 82
Popularity 1,411
Competition (page 1) 55
Median reviews 1
% of page-1 products under 5 reviews 71%
Avg rating (page 1) 4.69

April Pulley Sayre's counting picture book is widely used in K-2 math + literature. 55 products on page 1 but median 1 review means the niche is settling. Most existing products are basic worksheets. There's an opportunity for a richer "math + literature integration" pack.

Suggested product: "One Is a Snail Ten Is a Crab Math Activities | Grade K-2 | Counting + Addition + Sea Animal Crafts" — 6-8 station activities tied to the book, including the "10 = crab + snail" decomposition framing.

What the data is actually saying about Q2 2026

Stepping back from individual niches, four patterns surfaced across the 5,949-keyword database. Two were expected. Two surprised me.

Pattern 1: Book-specific TPT niches are massively under-served. 4 of the top 10 above are tied to specific texts (Things They Carried, Oedipus, One Is a Snail Ten Is a Crab, plus runners-up like Boy in the Striped Pajamas at opportunity 81). Teachers search for resources tied to specific texts they're teaching, but most TPT sellers create generic "literature analysis" templates. Going text-specific (especially for required-reading novels in 9-12 ELA) consistently surfaces high-opportunity niches.

Pattern 2: Seasonal / calendar-driven niches rotate fast. April Fools Marshmallow Farm, 2's Day in Music (Feb 22), Thanksgiving Feast Sign-Up Sheet. These spike and fade. Ship 6-8 weeks before the holiday, capture the search wave, then refresh for next year. The "hidden message" gimmick works repeatedly across themes.

Pattern 3: Math + Literature crossover is a quiet winner. "One Is a Snail, Ten Is a Crab" math activities (opp 82, popularity 1,411) and "2's Day" math + music (opp 84) both score above 80. Sellers who can tie math concepts to a specific book or calendar event find better margins than generic worksheet sellers.

Pattern 4: Astronomy elementary is wildly under-supplied. "Life cycle of a star flow chart" has popularity 2,596 with only 19 page-1 products. One of the most lopsided demand-vs-supply ratios in the entire database. NGSS Earth & Space Science standards drove demand in 2025. Sellers haven't caught up yet.

What I expected but didn't surface as strongly: AI literacy, bilingual EN/ES, climate change. These categories are growing in my database (popularity scores climbing month-over-month) but still below the 200 floor for "established demand." Worth tracking for the Q3 report.

How to use this report

If you're picking your next product to ship:

  1. Pick one niche from the top 10 that aligns with what you actually teach or have taught.
  2. Confirm the metrics haven't shifted in the days since publication. TPT moves fast.
  3. Plan a 14-day shipping cycle for the first version. Don't perfect — ship.
  4. Promote with a 20% launch discount for the first 30 days to drive review velocity.
  5. Refresh the listing quarterly to keep it competitive.

The niches above won't stay open forever. The whole point of this report is to surface them before competitors build moats. If you ship in the next 30-60 days, you have a window. If you wait six months, expect another seller to have moved in.
